Drilldeep

Imagine, you're a board member of the illustrious Pan-Global Industries, going about your day - having a good time. You've just set up the will-be city's first deep-range scanner and - whoa. There's a reading for what appears to be Beryllium! On this mess of a scrap of iron, there's a pocket of bloody Berrylium? A rare find would be a good payday, especially for something so useful. Roughly 1800 kilograms per meter cubed, but that's only off by a few kilograms! It must be!   Well, cue your surprise when you, and here's where the name comes from, Drill Deep, and you come across not a giant pocket of Beryllium like you'd thought (Which, quite frankly, was wishful thinking at the best of times) and was in fact a giant pocket of Sulfuric Acid. Now, you might be thinking; That's still a might useful!   And you'd be right! But you also already set up the drill tunnel for extracting ores, not for extracting fluids. You look like a fool on the industrial stage, and you spent all of your grant money on building the biggest tunnel bore in Raa's history to dig your ass 11 kilometers into the planet's surface. So you're fired, and you get to watch your former associate not only take all the glory and recognition - but several bonuses from the earnings, then later got to cut the ceremonial ribon on a new city named to spite you - and THEN used your old drill to start digging deeper, aiming to implant the "Most Sophisticated Depths Scanner in Raa'n history" to the tune of applause and grants galore.   Well, the folks here don't care too much. We like out depths. We set out to hew the stone and process the minerals like the folks on the surface do. We just have it a little hotter down here.

Infrastructure

Built within a giant cavern below the surface of the planet, the ceiling has been mounted with artifical lighting systems. Buildings built extend up from the base of the cave up into the ceiling, and a ravine splitting the cavern in half has been modified to include a funtional river - even as low as they are.   Wastewater from the above settlement of Ivornoctus is flowed into large processing plants above the township, which is then filtered out into 2 streams; One that fills the river (Nicknamed The Deep Sea) and another which provides plumbing to the buildings down below.   The two meet and are plunged into the cooling system for a collosal drill, which is aiming to plunge deeper and deeper into the planet yet. This is then evaporated and run up an exhaust pipe, where it is filtered back into Ivornoctus' water system.
