Hellspawn: Demons and Devils

While the Cadrithic Pantheon lay claim to the Celestial planes near to the mortal realms, the beings of the Hell Planes fight their ceaseless wars in the Abyssal and Infernal realms, detached from Cilladion by the Celestial Plane.
Created by the first impulses of the Elder Gods, the conflicting and untamed nature of the first devils and demons proved almost enough to destroy Cilladion in its infancy. Spawned into Cilladion as post-mortal expressions of the Elder Gods themselves, things immediately devolved into spiralling conflict and war. The raw, carnal desire for chaos from the demons clashed with the overwhelming desire to crush and dominate of the devils, with no synthesis reached between the two, and all Cilladion looked to burn in hellfire. Even the Elder Gods themselves were unable to control their spawn, victims of their own unfettered emotions, and were driven out of Cilladion nearly entirely, doomed to be near-forgotten and powerless for the rest of time. Only the creation of the first true mortals, beings with temperance, balance, and synthesis, was enough to halt the all-consuming war. Faced with the destruction of Cilladion, one Elder God shattered themselves, and their power imbued the first mortals with divinity, becoming the Cadrithic Pantheon. The Pantheon, newly formed, and free from the self-contradictions at the heart of the Elder Gods, drove out the Hellspawn, and formed the Celestial and Hell Planes. The Celestial Plane forms the barrier between the Hell Planes, which consist of the Abyssal realm, home of the demons, and the Infernal realm, home of the devils.
Devils are the more rational and reasoned of the two Hellspawn pantheons, possessing the innate drive to dominate, conquer, and control at all costs. This is inherently self-destructive, for even in victory, the devils would simply break their victory apart in their own vice-grip just to seize power again. Devils are beings of contracts, influence, and power, and while still often blocked by the Celestial Plane surrounding Cilladion, are more likely to have contact with mortals.
Demons are wild and unpredictable, lacking the laws and logics of the devils, instead embracing pure destruction, chaos, and anarchy. This, like all the natures of the Hellspawn, is self-destructive in the quite literal sense: the demons would continue on to destroy absolutely everything, until but one thing existed, upon which it would attempt to destroy even itself. Demons are violent, utterly opposed to any semblance of order, and are blocked most often by both devils and celestials from reaching Cilladion - but some can slip through the cracks.
