San Lorenzo

There are many places around the world to find moonstone but there are not many deposits to be found in the United States. The only pack to boast of a still-intact moonstone deposit are the Gila Forest Pack of New Mexico. The deposit is accessed in Rabb Canyon, near to San Lorenzo, and is not being used for large scale mining at this time, but the moonstone found there is quite prized for its brightness among werewolves and almost all packs in North America who have done business with the Gila Forest Pack have some beautiful pieces mined from the area. Hobbyist hand-mining is the only type done due to the lack of roads leading to access the area and the werewolves' agreements to work on preservation of the natural area. Hand-mining is not too difficult, however, and there is a collection site that isn't too terribly difficult to reach for the many rock hounds and gem collectors that come to visit the area.    San Lorenzo is close to Rabb Canyon and is historically the living place for pack wolves assigned to keep an eye on the precious deposits in the area as well as the national forest for which the pack is named. The little town is now considered abandoned and is listed as a ghost town; as it had less than 100 human residents in the last census, designating it a Cesnus Designated Place rather than a small town according to the United States, but still remains an important place with the werewolves living in the state for the history of the moonstone trade at the beginning of the pack's life in the area. Still, tours of the ruins can be arranged if you know who to ask, but it is not a common destination for tourists. Humans generally prefer the comforts that can be found in more populous places and tend to stay in places like Silver City, which has many more amusements for tourists.   The werewolves in the area consider this to be an unmitigated success, as they do not have many prying eyes of humans to be concerned about and have a detailed written history of the settlement, which they do not share due to the nature of the business in the area. Due to the moonstones in the area, the Gila pack is very cautious about allowing outside wolves to visit the forest, but agreement to a guide is a certain way to be allowed access and to even be allowed to collect a very small amount of the moonstone that can be easily found in the area for yourself.
