Wolvaren (Wole-vahr-en)

Native to Deshalak, but prone to migration over long distances, these creatures tend to den in caves deep in the jungle or high up along cliff walls. The wolvaren avoid mortals whenever possible and prefer to flee rather than fight unless food, territory, or young are involved. These beautiful and rarely seen creatures are large wolves with pitch black fur and large wings reminiscent of a raven.

Legend tells of ancient armored warriors who once rode into battle on wolvaren mounts, but evidence has yet to be found either to prove or disprove the old stories. It is believed that it is these stories that led to the description of a group of wolvaren as a Knightmare in the northern hemisphere and as a Darkness in the south.
