The Marked

The Marked are a subset of the human race that are descended from a legion of warriors who went into the Old God's domain to fight them and got corrupted by them. This Legion is known as the Black Legion and once they returned to the surface they managed to overthrow their masters hold on their minds, and with their help the Old God's were defeated. Unfortunately this was not before they had viciously murdered thousands of people. Helpful or not the Black Legion has a large black spot on their record and while the Old God's hold on their mind is gone their bodies still held the proof of their corruption whether that be the scales and claws that marked the touch of the Queen of Dragons, the tentacle arms that mark the touch of The Great Deep One, or the marks of the other Old Gods. Most of the marked are found on the very Northern end of the continent and are apart of the still surviving Black Legion who have made it their duty to prepare for the coming of the Old God's minions and to protect the people who hate them. Those in the lower parts of the continent are thoroughly hated for being a constant reminder of the Old Gods influence, and because they look different. For the most part there are two mindsets with The Marked. One: a ordered and strict life working for the greater good. However, there are many Marked who have turned to the Cults of the Old Gods as these Cults worship them for having the touch of their patrons and honor them because of this.

Feminine names

The same as the customs of the culture they live in.

Masculine names

The same as the customs of the culture they live in.

Unisex names

Those in or from the Black Legion go by titles and given names depending upon their purpose and their accomplishments. They believe that calling something by its name is the same as knowing its reason in the world, and calling something other then its purpose is to call it falsely.

Family names

Those of the Black Legion do not go by any family names, but those who live south of the arctic wastes will usually adopt the customs of wherever they live, or at least parts of them.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

The Kren: a philosophy and religion followed by most of the lawful Marked. It is the betterment of oneself by strict adherence to the Kren.

Coming of Age Rites

Once the Marked come of Age there is a coming of age ceremony that determines their purpose from the Kren.
