Sakharus Melakhar

The wind catcher

recording 7: The Wind Caller

Sakharus was born inside the land of Warlord ___, located on the south of the Imparde Desert. And was destined to become its owner after the passing of his mother. Sakharus has had lofty ambition on the age that he knows how to recollect his memory. He wants to make ___ prosperous than Shagafar itself, to one day make it the capital of the south, and to declare himself emperor of the land, establishing a new dynasty. An ambitious yet foolish dream, which is understandable for his age. Determined, Sakharus tries his best to collect and gather as much information he could from his mentors, and his mind is always thinking of ways to improve ___.   However, before he could even realize the impossibilities of his dream, At age thirteen, Sakharus was sent to Shagafar to become one of the candidates to be the future Librarian of Murenor Imparde. He was shocked after receiving the new, His shock then grow into anger as he furiously threw the clay text onto the ground, shattering it into thousands of pieces. In that instance, he can no longer feel his leg supporting him, the lingering sandy smell of the room and the clothing covering his body, and following the letter, the young warlord collapsed onto the ground, and tears watered his eyes. Five years of hard work, studying and embedding into his memory every knowledge available, every text he comes to contact with, just to become a servant under someone's command. Sadly for the dreamer, a night spent crying did not change his fate, because if he chooses to reject the emperor's proposal, in within a month, his land will have a "visit" from the emperor Melakhar himself along with an army as vast as the sand on this desert. On the verge of dawn the next morning, Sakharus has packed his stuff and is ready for his departure, with only a few moments to spare with the people he is closest to.   Sakharus was desperate, as he can feel his dream being more and more shattered the more distance he is closer to Shagafar. Like a rogue sandstorm. Depression soon consumed Sakharus. Dusting his thoughts. On the three days long trip, Sakharus have forsaken foods and drinks even though his servant begs him to eat. When he arrived at the palace, he doesn't even bother to change into the appropriate clothing and even forgotten his gift on his mount.   While Sakharus was escorted to the palace of everlasting winds. A palace named for its unique choice of location, The palace is located on a small spot on the Imparde Desert that all of the four winds must cross at some point during their journey. His escort leads him into the city using the eastern gate. And he first entered the bursting market of Shagafar, where merchants all around the Imparde Desert enter and leave to trade goods from all corners of the desert region. He slowly scans his eye to observe the environment around him, and instinctively thoughts of adding a place like this into his homeland came to him, which he cleared out of his mind instantly. Further investment only causes further pain. He thought to himself as he drifts his sight onto the ground below him.   After leaving the Market, he began to enter the high street of Shagafar, Where houses and buildings, each at least two stories tall, most having at least one wind catcher to cool their home, stand on the right side of the main road. Every single tavern was occupied with people sitting around, feasting on steaming dishes, and drinking spiced Elcorodion wine, entertaining them are bard performing or creating songs dedicated to Murenor Imparde. On his left are people tossing handsful of yellow Begonia flowers into a canal filled with groundwater, perfuming the water inside the channel, and the whole street with a gentle aroma. Unable to turn away from the charm of the City. Like a child's first time seeing something beautiful, Sakharus takes in the scenery, and he began to realize how infeasible his dream was, even if he was not sent to Shagafar. Unlike his little land. Shagafar is luxurious, its people are joyous and don't have to focus on farming to keep them alive.   He was one of the last guests to arrives at the guest hall leading up to the palace. Before he entered the palace, he was greeted with two female servants with half of their face covered by a long piece of white gauze mask. One of the servants put a perfumed butter, which has been shaped after a Begonia flower onto his head. while the other servants handed Sakharus a folded piece of beige colored gauze mask. Drawn on the mask with blood-colored dye, is the symbol of his homeland. A wave of homesickness hit Sakharus as he wore the mask on his face, he regretted not spending more time with his beloved land before departing, how he missed its sunset, the scent of its wind, and the feel of its sand. The sudden wave of nostalgia was so overwhelming that he could have cried if the two servants don't signal him to walk toward the hall.   The butter has already melted before he even entered the hall, and the scent of the perfume entirely covered Sakharus. However, the smell was soon nullified by the aroma of incense as he makes his way into the hall.
