Voless

The Voless is a large bird that lives and hunts in the lands of the Voiceless waste and into the forest that surround it. The large bird has a wing span of 15 feet. The head is about the size of a loose fist with a large hooked beak made for attacking and tearing flesh off bones. The talons of the Voless are razor sharp and long. The talons have two in front and two in back making it look as if they have an x at the bottom of the their legs. A fully grown Voless’s fathers are many shades of tan with accents of green on the tips of the feathers. The female has breast feathers are the lightest in color which comes up and over the head making an arrow pointing down the back. Males have light colored breast fathers that come up creating a collar around the head. On top they have several long dark green feathers.   They are well known as excellent hunters. They hunt small to medium sized prey. Their favored food tends to be venomous animals that live in the Voiceless waste. They have evolved so that they can easily eat the venomous animals from the Voiceless waste. They have also been seen cleaning up some of the dead animals or reptiles. They also hunt in the forest on the edge of the Voiceless waste during lean times. The Voless have no outside threats once they reach adulthood. The Voless mate for life and create nest on high cliffs in the Voiceless waste. Mating season is the month before the wet season in the Voiceless waste. During mating the males use the green feathers on their heads to attract their mates. The green feathers stand up right, they then do an elaborate areal dance to catch the eyes of the females. Once the attention of the female has been gotten and accepts the attention, both fly in unison in an areal dance. Once the dance is done they end in the nest that the female has made. The eggs laid are tan with speckles of different colors, typically green, purple, and red. The more speckled the eggs are the older the mated pair are. Once the eggs hatch, about 3 weeks after laying the volings are tan with stringy feathers that slowly are replaced with their final feathers as they grow. Once they are one month old they have their feather and coloring but continue to grow to full adult which is three years old.
