Lightning seamstress

Lightning seamstress are very skilled seamstresses who work with a very interesting and sometimes unpredictable resource. Until recently in the Uska republic lightning seamstresses were highly thought of. But due to many accidents, mishandling and corruption the Uska republic outlawed them. The accidents and mishandling lead to several deaths from the lightning moths. The corruption lead to the destruction of much of the lightning moths native habitat.   Lightning seamstresses were the only ones that have the knowledge of how to cut, weave, sew the silk into fabric and clothing.   It was very common that Lightning seamstress had at least three to four apprentices working for them.

Career

Qualifications

To become a lightning seamstress you must apprentice under one. Spending at least ten years learning the craft. At least two of those years are spent collecting the silk form the moths.

Career Progression

Start as an apprentice as a silk collector either from natural habitat or from a farm. After two years of that they move on to apprentice seamstress. Spend three years just learning to cut the fabric, where to get the supplies, doing odd jobs for the seamstress. Then the five years is spent as an under seamstress. An under seamstress does the sewing and occasionally design. In the last year of the five they actually work with customers.

Payment & Reimbursement

Depending on where they are located they will do payment based on the work. Some with in capital cities work for either the kingdoms or government and payed monthly. Extra if they take orders from the rich and nobles of the area. Those orders are to not interfere with the orders of the government or kingdom.

Other Benefits

A seamstress can earn enough to make a very conformable life some even get rich. Most are in the employment of a government or kingdom. There are some great seamstresses that work only on commissions and are highly sought out.
