Lafliuton Scholars
The population of the continent Lafliuton are more focused on battle readiness than all the other continents. Including the elven settlements. So a scholar from Lafluton is not what most people think of. These scholars are very vital in keeping the records of the different kingdoms and settlements. They have kept the libraries from being destroyed by the many wars, and battles that have occurred over the generations. Because of this protection of the libraries and ancient texts allowed the elven scholars of Nurzo to be vital in helping crack the Uska language. Now many of the different scholars from around Lafliuton, both shifter and elf are working on the Iwati language of the Oska.
Many Lafliutons either shifter or elven look as being a scholar as a last resort. In the Tavell and Priria kingdoms you can not be a scholar at all unless you have been physical crippled in battle or war and are no longer able to fight. In the Edestarlins being a scholar is seen as being a weakling and unable to do anything but look at books all day. There is also much social pressure to be a warrior especially the young men. The scholars in all of the kingdoms are required to show that they are able to do a different profession than ‘just reading dusty old books.’
In the elven settlements the social pressure is not as bad but there is some family pressure. There are some families that will hid that their child is a scholar, even if there is a great accomplishment because of the scholars. Many youngsters see being a scholar as a joke and that you can’t do anything else. Even in the Nurzo who prize learning. As Elluin Heirel, a Nurzo Magiolgist said, We learn by our hands and experience not by reading a book
