The Blasphemous Resistance

The Conflict

Prelude

The Holy Empire had expanded its territory to encompass most of the continent in the height of its power. They entered a "Golden Period" lasting just over a century. With no active military presence eventually unrest began to develop in the settlements at the furthest reaches from the seat of power. Eventually, a small rebellion broke out that was easily put to rest by the enforcement officers of the Holy Empire. However, in fear of losing his hold on the territories, the emperor started implementing overly harsh and unnecessary rules to scare the populace into compliance. This had the opposite effect, and under a harsher regime the Blasphemous Resistance found a foothold.

Deployment

Starting small the resistance was able to quickly gain reasonable numbers among the populace distant from the seat of the empire. They attracted a lot of support and favor among local landholders and leaders of smaller settlements. Although they were able to gain traction quickly and free some territory on the outskirts of the empire they had an increasingly more difficult time in the more militant areas, closer to the seat of power. This quickly led to a massive and intricate spy network.

Battlefield

The resistance, greatly outnumbered and outmatched has found success in two avenues. The resistance has developed a spy network. This network work to discover militant movements as well as a sort of "underground railroad" to evacuate persons and objects of interest. They have also developed Guerilla tactics, avoided militarized areas and hit more vulnerable targets.

Conditions

The members of the resistance are vastly outnumbered and outpowered by their enemies. They must live their life in secret or in deep cover, moving together in small camps. While they have allies in the liberated territories and sympathizers in the empire itself the resistance members are mainly viewed as terrorists by the empire's populace. They are at constant risk of imprisonment and execution.
