Suritran Life in Polaris

In Polaris, Suritrans are first class foreigners treated with immense respect. While most live in the Suritran district, quite a few have made it all the way to the homes and parties of the Acropolis. The Suritran district is almost an extension of Ubaid itself, as the travel time between the two cities is just thirty minutes. It is a tourist attraction of many in Suritra, and Ubaid is a tourist attraction for many in Polaris. The people of Suritra, even Babylonians, are well liked and make their way as artisans just as well as they would in Suritra. Luxury clothes lines, jewelry, and of course magical tools are all a part of the Suritran product line.   Jewelry is especially coveted in Polaris, as it trades for high prices due to their beauty and magical power. Spirit Crystals are easy to use and learn for Kynoseans, so they are an exciting new form of magic for those who can afford to buy and learn to use these crystals. Fable Lockets fetch a small fortune in Polaris, and have made many “Fable directors” famous for the specific stories they make and sell. They are often also the jewelers behind the specific fable crystal that stores that fable.   There are no slaves in Polaris because it is illegal as mandated by the Senate. This means Suritrans often hire cheap labor from Maninbarans or Omesoans. This is well liked by the Kynoseans who do the same, but there is one aspect of the Suritrans they do not like and strictly forbid in Polaris: The Correctionists. While they are a secret to the general public, the Senate knows of their existence and strictly forbids their entering or operating in the city.   Many Correctionists do exist in the city, but are escapees from the Suritran government, having left the program. Many make their wages by offering mental therapy, using their mind-altering powers to secretly heal the trauma and mental illness of those they treat.
