Omeso Life in Polaris

In Polaris, Omeso are predominantly lower class. They make their living through everyday jobs, mercenary work, and entertainment professions. Their upper class have made a great living through trading crystals and luxury crops, and as such have gained a sizable portion of the city. This district is a mirror image of a city in Tonatiuh, with narrow brick paths and towering apartments, big town centers placed in front of a religious temple or political building.   The Omesoans of Polaris are some of the best-treated foreigners, forming the crux of entertainment in the city in their Phoenix Shows, cheap, audience-packed shows involving massive displays of fire and lights, depicting animals and the fables of “stars” in the sky using fire & sparks.   Much like the homeland, the Omeso district faces great political unrest due to wildly disproportionate wealth. The Vicereine of the district, Metztli Ordoñez, is a powerhouse in her own right as she could be considered both an Oligarch and Vicereine. Her goal is to ensure the free trade of Omeso goods directly to the upper class Prometheans, leaving the lower class members to low-wage jobs like transportation and construction.   The predominant god of the district is Chicomecoatl, goddess of food and especially of corn. Every year there is a festival to Chicomecoatl which includes a massive banquet in the center of the district. However, the growing prioritization of profits has caused the district to become a tourist trap for the ultra-elite. This means that in many districts the representation of “culture” is a few serpent statues and knock off Omesoan restaurants. This has slowly pushed the Omesoans who do live in the district into smaller and smaller spaces as more and more of the land is occupied by tourist destinations. Some even leave to the nearby Rindu district for refuge.
