Omeso Home Life

Omeso is a land of many small villages, each with their own temple to their unique deity. The few cities that do exist tend to worship multiple of the gods of their neighboring villages. Cities are built next to bodies of freshwater lakes that are connected in a series of rivers originating from a series of geysers at the southern tip of the cavern. The largest lake is Lake Tamuín, which is where the capital of Omeso is, Tamuín City. There, the oligarchs rule the nation from afar. There are three major Oligarchs currently:
  • Tlachinolli Emberi, The Fire Crystal dealer. She is the most wealthy of the big five, as she trades directly with the source of fire crystals and sells them for a huge markup to Polaris.
  • Ácatl Maizi, The food distributor. He is the person who manages the logistics of getting food from rural parts of Omeso to the urban areas and even to Polaris. Polaris pays a high price for these foods which they consider exotic.
  • Ilhicamina Damascus, the weapons dealer. She is the person who runs the blacksmith guilds across the country.
Omeso is divided into provinces, usually holding 2-4 cities in each, each one under the watchful eye of a Viceroyalty. They rule as proxies to the oligarchs, and have essentially full power to decide how their province is run. Their only rule is to not get in the way of the Oligarch's profits, or they will quickly be replaced.   Life in an Omeso city is well off, where magicians and merchants work for the lords who own farmer's land. In the more rural areas, however, unrest is common as mercenaries go across the land enforcing unfair taxes and stealing crops on behalf of Oligarch Maizi. Oftentimes, they’ll kidnap the youth of a village to turn into mercenaries payed unlivable wages. This has deeply angered the countryside, inciting a revolution amongst the villages. They place the blame on the oligarchs, and seek to overthrow them.   At the center of this revolution is Martinez, the chaotic and passionate warrior who leads the revolution. He has grown a revolutionary force in the thousands, riding from city to city and pushing out the mercenaries who patrolled the region. He is slowly reaching Tamuín as the oligarchs panic to find a way to stop him.
