Maninbaran Life in Polaris

In Polaris, Maninbarans are the absolute lowest class. They are relegated to janitorial jobs. A huge reason for this is because they are so poorly understood; Few Polarians have ever stepped foot in the City of Tomes, and even fewer understand how Monarch magic works. Because of this lack of understanding, few see its practical value and most ignore it for everyday use.   The Maninbarans have been continuously “in debt” to the city of Polaris, because under Polaris’s laws, their entire civilization is under Polaris territory. Though this is absurd, the Polaris law enforcement have taken action by claiming villages as their own, and in the process making the Maninbarans “citizens” of Polaris. Over time, this has made the border between Polaris and Maninbarans closer to the City of Tomes, and Polaris has heavy security for those borders; so heavy, in fact, that few if any ethnically Maninbaran people can return to their country. Thus, with little choice left, the Maninbarans often choose to integrate into the Polaris society - as the low-class workers.   Unlike the homeland, many in Polaris are Runeless. While they have written books, those books are not able to be accepted because they cannot be accepted to any library within their nation. Education has to instead be passed through family books and word of mouth. Many people make their own homemade Grimoires (although this would be illegal for anyone below the rank of Lamane back home).   There is no Maninbaran District; Maninbarans exist across the Adipolis. They cluster in streets, and have found their way across the whole city as individuals or small families renting cheap apartments. They are not truly integrated into the city, and often are met with hostility. Few Polarians know Maninbaran culture because of their lack of centralization, but there’s actually just as many Maninbarans as there are any other culture in Polaris.
