Aranbar

A far Eastern region of Casiphon separated from the rest of the continent by the vast deserts of Eyl-Thoul, consisting of two port cities and numerous trading outposts. This area acts as an entrepôt between Casiphon and the island civilisations of the Archipelagos of the Dawn, which lie further to the East over the sea.   The area is inhabited mainly by the indigenous dragonborn, who form a ruling priestly caste, and human settlers (the Aranbari) from both Casiphon and the Archipelagos, who make up the rest of the population. The area is temperate, sparsely forested, with a high northern mountain range, the Calaster Spires, and a large swamp-girt lake to the North-West, the Nassory Mere.   The religion of the region is dragon-worship. Dragon lairs are found throughout the Calaster Spires, and have been transformed into temple-complexes, near which are located the major inland settlements. The skeletal remains of the dragons who lived there are carefully preserved, gilded and richly decorated, interred in temples as if gods. It is said that they are offered regular human sacrifice, and the dragonborn priests speak of a time when they will return in glory to take back their rightful place as rulers over all Casiphon.
