Cravo

Written by Farris Temaire

This Creature is a Creation of Farris Temaire, and will not be used by others, unless it is a co creation of a book. If this creature is found in any book past the date of Nov 11, 2020 I will try to claim all book proceeds of said work so back off this idea is mine and mine alone, if you like it and feel expired I will co-Author a book with you if we can work well as co authors    This creature features in my book Split Personality that is book after Sky Touched that I hope to get published one day

Basic Information

Anatomy

Like the single sell parasites of the world it has kept it main body the same shape it started out as, it is globular with hundreds of receptors’. The Cravo are about the size of a rat without its tail. But 90 of its mass is the brain the Cravo. Each receptor is about 3 inches long and are full of muscle and needles it balances itself on three of these receptors, to move it simply retracts a receptor and lets itself to start to roll until its receptors come into contact with the land again. The male are green, the females a very pale green with their receptors yellow.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Cravo spawn together before leaving the lake, a lot like fish. Males spew out sperm from their receptors and a female will send out a single egg into the murky waters of the lake. The adults then venture out for another life on land. By the end of spring an adult Carvo will have traveled to the boarders of the North Pole so they can send another Informer into the sea, to a Cravo this reproduction is more important than the spawning to create offspring, as it enhances their live instead of just keeping up the population.

Growth Rate & Stages

Once a Cravo has deposited the Informer into the sea, the Informer will float on sea currents sustaining its body on the salt of the sea. Eventually the time comes that some animal takes in an Informer; either it can be breathed in threw the gills or swallowed as the predator goes after pray. They will then travel threw the bloodstream until they reach a creatures brain, and from there they multiply and grow by infecting brain cell matter into other versions of itself, until all sensory input is found and being transmitted. The Informer is then settled and stops multiplying using the creatures own magic source as its way of amplifying its power to allow for the resonating brainwaves to travel back to the North Pole carrying its host memories back to its mother brain.   A new baby Cravo has about a 20% chance of surviving its first year of life, this is because the waters hold the most dangers for it. There are fish that hibernate just like the Cravo and the spawning of them happens just as they start to wake up. Baby Cravo’s are not like Informers, they get eaten, they get dead. The Carvo take up to 6 weeks to be able to leave the lake it was born in. This time is when a Cravo’s receptors are growing in strength. It is much easier to move in water eating seaweed, then it is to walk on land. For those who reach size and strength to leave the lake, they now have 86% chance to live into adulthood. The next challenge is its first trek to the sea. The Cravo must store up enough proteins to sustain themselves and to grow a Informant of their own, 4% will die of starvation because they rushed to the sea to fast and did not have enough store to sustain them threw their first hibernation, those who rush also have a 3% higher chance of being eaten by sea life before they can entrap themselves into a Icecap. 7% of death come from being too much of a glutton and not reaching the sea in time and their bodies break apart in the freezing and melting of being above ground when the first snows hit. A young Cravo must dive into the sea at just the right time, to survive its most dangerous Hibernation, The last task is making it to land before being eaten when you are thawed in spring. If the current drags a Carvo away from land they are screwed. 1% do not make it because their Informers never got eaten and the Cravo went crazy while being trapped in the ice and chose death by ripping itself apart.

Dietary Needs and Habits

It spends its summer rolling on the rocky land of the North Pole until it finds organic matter. Its favorite food i flowers, but is content when it finds grasses. When it encounters the plant life it will inject the cells of the leaves with the hundreds of needles that each of its receptors hold, and will bask in the sun while digestive gasses brake down the bonds of the cells. It then sucks up the cell pulling the proteins of the decomposed leaf back into itself through its needles. The Cravo do not destroy the plant, its leaves will be filled with holes but the plant should recover enough that when another Cravo rolls into it that plant will be another source of food. Then the Cravo continues its slow roaming over until is next encounter with plant life. The North Pole is very rocky so most plant life is in fizzer of the rock. A depraved Cravo will eat moss but the proteins do not translate to a good gain of energy verses the output to digest it.

Biological Cycle

The North Pole is a place of extremes, on a world already filled with extremes. How the Cravo survive when the sun disappears and the land is frozen over is that the fully submerge in the water to help to freeze themselves completely to avoid cellular degeneration and starvation. They can survive in any amount of heat as they their cells walls are more malleable the hotter they are, but have no other symptoms like sweating. The Cravo have no need for a stable internal temperature the colder they are the more lethargic they are. But that is it. Cravo thrive in the heat of the 24 hour of sun and so does the explosive amount of plant life that creeps over the North pole that is their food source. They double their fat stores during the 3 month summer when the sun is almost never sets. Although freezing slows their metabolism stopping them from needing to find food in the frozen wasteland to live they will have come to almost starvation when they give birth in the spring because of the magic to keep in touch with their Informers, and so float on top with the fresh scum after spawning and take a day to feast on the red bloom of the seaweed before heading out to the more nutritious plants on land.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Having no ears or month capable of talking, but a brain full of ideas, it communicates chemically. If two Cravos bumps into each other, they will sift until their receptacles lock together, and a needle from each will pierces the other, this allows the back and forth of chemicals that allow them to converse. They will not let each other go until the need for food causes them to separate. Most of what they share is exciting stories of things they have witnessed threw their Informers. The Cravo has Informers because simple experience of wondering around looking for food is to pale a life for thinking and feeling creatures. The Informers are how the Cravo made uses of the velisostion production within themselves. They use the magic within them to create a detached part of itself that it can communicate with telepathically.   The Informers are their companions threw life, and are a lifeline to the Cravo during hibernation. But are a great source of happiness and entertainment during the summer months as well for the Cravo life is filled with boredom but the life of other creatures are so different from theirs and this enriches the Cravo's experience.  Some creatures the informers send info back at live in a world of smell. Some show a life of Family ties, but each sea creatures has a wonderful abundance of experiences for the Cravo's to life. The Cravo feel that the form that travels the North Pole is just a vessel to hold their brain, the Cravo live from their taking over another creature’s life story. The Cravo might have developed into sentient life, but it started out as a virus, invading species to multiply by infection of that animals most basic building blocks and still do in a sense. A Carvo brain is structured to take in the information of multiple different Informers, the limit to how many lives they simultaneously live threw their informers is determined by luck. It all depends on how many times an Informers host is eaten by something else. If the creature is eaten there is an 80 percent that the protocols set in place when an Informer experiences the death of its host to make it successfully transfer itself into this new creatures bloodstream, to then take over the sensory part of the brain for this new creature, this is draining on the informer and so every death the percentage of survival goes down by ten present, a very lucky informer can usually live threw 8 deaths before expiring and being digested so a Cravo during their peak of life on average have 12 informers sending information to them.
