Singer of the Lullaby

As the disgraced brother of Alb Vartu does not know many followers or temples, but he knows his duty well, and no soul goes to the afterlife unprotected. Once seduced by the abyss into a dark service Vartu betrayed his brother at the end of a harrowing journey, but his failure to kill the other twin at that critical moment led him down a path of damnation that ended with him taking up the role of a protector of the afterlife. It is said that at the start of each life Vartu starts playing a lullaby. As the last notes fade away and the song ends so does the life it belonged to. Finally lulled into everlasting sleep by the celestial lament. His appearance is often described as a halfling covered completely in dark robes, wielding a black ocarina named Loomenwail from which the first songs of burial were played. His hatred is only towards his brother, not against other sentient beings.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

While he is often considered evil he knows his duty and as such clerics devoted to him are not per se of the same alignment, being more attracted to his task than his personality. Those serving Vartu often have a high respect for life and an even higher respect for death, meaning they are imbued with a hatred for the undead and burdened with the task teaching respect for the deceased and granting all a painless passing.
