Shadi

Lady of the Mistgardens

A bear meandering through the forest is as much a symbol of Shadi as the grey rose most often used in worship to the nature goddess. As the patron of druids and the mother of all that grows Shadi is a goddess whose shrines can more often be found next to a roaring stream or in the midst of a dark forest, overgrown with moss. In most gardens it’s not uncommon to encounter a patch of grey roses to bless the plants that grow there or a verse written in her honour carved on a garden wall. Legend tells of how Shadi spends her days caring for the mist gardens, the place where all plants and trees grow and originate from. It is said that wild plants are planted on misty days as the seeds then find a way to the material plane through the fog. Temples to shadi are not often built from stone, but rather grown from the trees themselves over the span of centuries, the branches of a great tree guided into her image by a druid dedicating his life to the goddess. While most other gods often resemble some of the more sentient races that worship them Shadi is described as more akin to the ents. Being a woman grown from the first tree, her branches spanning all of existence.

Her followers can often be as patient as the trees around them, but also as wild and hasty as a young and quick stream making its way down a mountainside. Early in life most of them are enthusiastic and eager to serve their goddess, preaching about her ways in the many villages and cities of the world, while later in life they often come to more of a mutual respect for the world around them and choose to live out their days in the woods, caring for all that grows. Her name is most often heard from the lips of Druids and Rangers.
