Cult of Vesta
Mythology & Lore
Vesta was among the Dii Consentes, twelve of the most honored gods in the Roman pantheon.[3] She was the first born daughter of Saturn and Ops, and sister of Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Juno, and Ceres. in actual roman myth, vesta asked her brother not to marry her off to anyone after the war with the titans was over and he became king of the gods. jupiter thought this was the most honourable thing she could have asked for, and so gave her one of the most important roles. in both her actual story and the first phase of The chornicles of Love series, she didn't want to get married or have illegitimate children with any humans because Vesta had seen the troubles that her siblings faced because of their love affairs
Divine Origins
some say the cult of vesta was founded by Numa Pompelius and princess Rhea Silvia of diamonds, the matriarch of House Vargas and mother of King Romulus Vargas. she was a vestal virgin when he was born. it's widly believed that she got pregnant by the God Mars while getting water to make mola salsa.
Cosmological Views
The Empire of Diamonds knew of 7 celestial bodies in the sky. With the naked eye they could see the sun (sol), the moon (luna), and 5 planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter. The planets were given the names of Roman gods. The other 2,5 planets that were discovered much later were also given names of Roman gods. however, vesta wasn't part of the sky deities like her father and siblings. her brother, jupiter gave her dominium over the hearth and home
Tenets of Faith
vesta's "daughters" had to be "pure" and chaste like her because their chastity symbolized the wellbeing of the whole empire. they would be sentenced to death by burrial if they were found to be unpure. this is the reason why she was deeply concerned, but benevolent when the youngest of her "daughters" admitted to being impure in the chonicles of love because she knew that the future king of diamonds was going to be born of that forbidden union.
Priesthood
the cult of vesta was a religious organization headed by the Head Priestess, who would only answer to the Pontifex Maximus. from there, six up;er-class girls from sectors 7 to 10 were selected from about 6 to 9 years of age in the chronicles of love, Sara was forsefully taken to the Temple of Vesta by Queen Clotilde. Vesta's "daughters" would have to spend their young lives in the temple unril they were 30 years old since that was the age when women were thought to stop baring children. Vesta's "daughters" were treated as celebrities, often getting front row seats to entertaint in the Empire of Diamonds. they would only be allowed to marry if they chose to end their years as vestals, though most of them chose to stay in the temple
