Grimoire Grimmest

The Grimoire Grimmest, often draped in ancient rotting robes, moves with an unnatural disjointed gait. Hollow, glowing eyes pierce the veil of inky shadows that constantly surrounds them. Their exposed skin, pale and translucent, reveals a black, inky substance coursing beneath. Runes and scripts can be seen rippling across the skin reflecting the knowledge they have devoured.   Whispers and muffled screams are heard faintly whenever they are around, a chorus of all the souls and secrets they've consumed. Those brave enough to approach them claim to see faces pressing out from underneath their skin,, a hand reaching out from with thier chest, a constant reminder of the mages and scholars they've devoured.   Origins: As legend has it, an insatiable mage fused their very soul with a cursed grimoire. The transformation was grotesque; flesh turned to paper-thin skin, blood transformed into thick, black ink. Driven to madness by the infinite secrets contained within, the mage's screams became the first whispers of the Grimoire Grimmest. It is said that a Grimoire Grimmest has been recorded cradling a tome like a babe, weeping black tears, lamenting their lost humanity. As such, items or remnants from their human life can disorient or weaken them, reminding them of the humanity they've lost. They are often in confrontation with the souls contained within thier being, arguing about the most inane of things. Interupt them at your own risk.   Habitat: They are drawn to graveyards of forgotten mages, catacombs of lost scholars, and the ruins of ancient libraries. These sacred places of knowledge, decayed and forsaken, resonate with their tragic existence.   Ink Homunculus To create a homunculus, the creature leans and uses its hands to pry open its chest cavity and let's ink spill out it's chest to form the homunculus. Memory Eater: The homunculus can latch onto a victim, draining their memories and experiences, turning the individual into a hollow shell. Shapeshift: It can transform into the nightmarish version of creatures from devoured stories.   Lore & Encounters: Some tales speak of those who've tried to bargain with a Grimoire Grimmest, offering them rare tomes in exchange for forbidden knowledge or the return of a lost soul. Such deals are perilous, for the Grimoire Grimmest's price is often far higher than any are willing to pay.
