Soldier
The lowest rank within the Order of Blades is the common soldier. This includes conscripted commoners as well as those who volunteer for stable pay and food. Depending on the kingdom, there may be more or less soldiers wishing to join for various reasons; however, many all hope for the same thing -- to be promoted to a Blade and earn all the status granted by that rank. That being said, some just want a place where they can earn coin.
Since the end of the War of Kings, the life of a soldier has been focused mainly on securing the borders of the Commonwealth and weeding out any remnants of the Queen's insurgents. There are also several bandits and other nasty creatures that were more-or-less ignored during the war as well. It certainly is safer since the end of the War, but it is by no means a safe profession.
This "grab all" category of "soldier" includes everything from sailors to pikemen to cavalrymen. They are also sometimes referred to as "Daggers", although this is not a formal title or rank.
It is common for Blades to subdivide the soldiers they are in charge of, especially if that amount is on the larger side, in which case they frequently choose a soldier to be in charge of the others. This is by no means a formal promotion, but the authority is still there and understood. A wise soldier uses this opportunity to distinguish themselves in order to catch the eye for perhaps a one day promotion to Blade.
Qualifications
Depending on the kingdom, entry as a soldier in the military is different; however, it is fairly easy for one to enlist. Immediately after the end of the War of Kings, many were already conscripted and finished their term of service before leaving or staying as a career.

The responsibility of a soldier is to follow orders and do his or her job to the best of their ability.

Accoutrements & Equipment
Soldiers are outfitted with the equipment necessary to complete their jobs as well as a badge signifying service within the Order of Blades.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Soldiers are removed from their service for failing to complete tasks or for breaking laws or not upholding the expectations of their superiors. This isn't altogether very common, but it does happen. For severe offenses, soldiers may be punished much more severely than simple dismissal.
