Description
The city itself isn’t visible from afar, as nearly all of the city proper rests underground. The city has been built into a mountainous cave system which has since been excavated by both arcane and physical means. Now, it is a near otherworldly cavern that extends downwards to what some have described as the abyss.
The city is largely vertically built, with layers and layers of residential areas, with the lower levels being responsible for mining precious metals. Due to this vertical construction, the class distribution is very obvious between the people of Rensir. The upper layers house the city’s middle class; guards, hunters, and farmers and traders. These layers are somewhat dangerous, as they have easier access to the surface. The middle layers house the upper class; the governor, mages, and other leaders. These layers are generally considered the safest. The lower layers house the miners and all other lower class people, and is considered the most dangerous due to the active mining and excavation, as well as the amount of ground above them.
While Rensir is generally secluded, it is also Caligone’s largest exporter of metal. Due to their mountainous region, trading is somewhat dangerous, but many view it as worthwhile, as the city does not have very many food sources, and other cities need the metal for countless things.
Rensir also houses a relatively small crime and conflict rate, which I suspect is due to the camaraderie that is shown between many residents. Because the working class makes up most of the population, it joins both the middle and lower classes in a sort of harmony caused by the sharing of work. Additionally, their government system has long since moved from the usual system of warlords, and instead, the governor is chosen in a sort of democracy. The people elect the hardest worker, which helps mitigate the distance between the upper and lower classes. Their current leader, Darven Selos, is a mage who specialized in destructive magic with near pinpoint accuracy, and could reportedly destroy a line about the size of a spear, in both width and depth, with minimal collateral damage
