Description
Anachra is a medium-sized settlement located in the southeastern portion of Caligone. The region it lies in is not what one would call ideal for modern human civilization. The area is hilly with a few small cliff faces, making building upon it rather difficult. I know not the circumstances of those who first settled here, but it must have been dire. Other than these factors, Anachra resembles your typical settlement, though it receives little in the way of inter-settlement commerce due to its topography.
History
We know now that Anachra was founded around the year 200. Anachra existed for almost 2 decades before news of its existence even reached other settlements. Its initial founders were a group of exiles from the nearby Anderfeldin who had to quickly find a place to settle before the eldritch did them in. It is possible that they would have remained hidden for longer if not for the fact that the settlement lacks a nearby water source. Eventually the population grew to a point where relying on rainwater was unsustainable, so help from other settlements needed to be looked into. Two years later a route was established from Anachra to the Paoulsen Lake, allowing the settlement to continue to expand. Nowadays Anachra is best known as a hub for practitioners of the dark arts, due to the recently established Melivacian Academy for the Dark Arts. It has become a place where fledgling arcane practitioners can prepare for their journeys to obtain the dark arts and experienced users can practice and learn from the experts.
