Luun

The Luun, known to some as Rose Folk, are a strange race believed to have been created by Gala herself before her arrival to Caldarra. Their flower-like appearance, strange mannerisms and lack of any history of a time before their arrival to Caldarra only serves to strengthen this belief.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Luun are rather short and lean in stature, rarely growing taller than 5 and a half feet or heavier than 120 pounds. Their skin comes in a range of tones from white to golden yellow and, in rare cases, a pale red. Short sharp thorns grow across their whole body often twisting and spiraling in unique and often beautiful patterns. Their golden eyes have a faint glow to them and their vine-like hair, twists and tangles in an uncontrollable fashion. Despite their small frames and whisper-like voices the Luun are capable of producing an ear-piercing shriek.

Genetics and Reproduction

Luun have no males or females and do not procreate to produce their offspring. Any Luun can produce a seed and plant it within the earth to create a new sapling. The care of these new saplings requires great attention to produce a healthy child. As such it is not uncommon for several Luun adults to tend to a single sapling whilst it grows. After several months, the sapling will pull itself from the earth as a child.

Growth Rate & Stages

Luun children rise without their thorns and spend the first few years of their life with smooth skin. Upon reaching early childhood the thorns begin to grow and will continue into young adulthood. This process is incredibly painful as the spike push through the skin, causing a constant sharp sensation all over. This endurance to pain serves to make the Luun much hardier than they may outwardly appear. By the age of 12 a Luun will be fully grown at which point they will be able to grow their own seeds to introduce the next generation. Luun will begin to grow frail as they enter into their 60s and it is highly unlikely they will live past 75.

Dietary Needs and Habits

The Luun receive the majority of their energy from natural sunlight and rain. This is supplemented with consumption of soil to absorb further nutrients in order to sustain them during the night or when exerting themselves.
