Traders

Sire, this 'religious sect' is no more than a thinly-veiled excuse to permit Dominion spies into our lands. The Savages will abuse our trusting nature and this sham of a religion to spread chaos and death across the country. On the morrow I will be instructing my troops to arrest all the Savages among the Traders in my lands and expel the rest of their cult.
— Lord Reynard Gyle, two weeks before being arrested for fraud, embezzlement, tax evasion and bankruptcy.

Wherever in Calcerun you find customers, you will also find the Traders. A religious sect of Niela, the merchant goddess, they are many in number and travel the lands in search of custom. They are widely reputed to offer the best goods and the best prices. The thing that strikes most people about the Traders is that they do not discriminate between races - many Traders are of races typically considered 'evil' or 'monstrous', and goblinoids, kobolds, sahuagin, duergar and more can be found amongst them. The Traders travel all lands and seas in search of customers. It is near-universally agreed that the Traders are beyond attack. They are entirely peaceful, and completely neutral in all conflicts, and as such pose no threat. But beyond that, it has become something of a taboo to harm them. It is claimed that anyone who does so will invite the wrath of Niela, and within a few days will find themselves penniless, living without food, money, or even any possessions. The Traders all wear amulets of Niela around their necks, and have a tattoo on their foreheads of a coin, the side with the face of Niela on it facing up.

The necromancers of Morderan do not tolerate the Traders any more than they tolerate any living intruder in their lands. This, combined with the dearth of customers, means Morderan is the one continent that the Traders do not visit.
