Ost Gwilith
The largest settlement in the Elven Woodlands, Ost Gwilith is the capital of the High Elves.
Home of the elven Academy of War, where every High Elf must study for a period of 5 years, so they can defend their city in case of need. They are usually required to start their studies at the age of 95, as somewhat of a coming of age ritual.
Home of one of the most ancient libraries in the world, a repository of old knowledge rivaled only by the Grand Library of Ioun.
Organization
The capital is split into four neatly divided areas, known as the Hour Halos, detailed below:Othron Fen (City's Entrance)
A hugely populated and busy neighbourhood, with most of the city's non elven population working here. Very well lit, being above the treeline the sun can shine over the stone that makes up most of the buildings, with the main road that slices through the middle being made of almost marble-looking polished stone. Small trees and bushes line the main street, providing some greenery in the middle of the very stone-heavy city. This part of the city has few or none houses, mostly consisting of shops, workplaces, taverns, and small inns. Most non-magical commerce happens here, as well as herbalism and basic alchemy.Demographics
Population is elven, with very few half-elves, and even fewer or none from the other races, with the half-elves and halflings being treated as almost slaves
Government
Centralized, patriarchal government. Very influential nobility.
Defences
Three military outposts in the outskirts of the city are magically empowered to rise up in the air and form a defensive shield around the city.
Industry & Trade
Manufacturing center of the elven settlements, with elven craftsmen of renowned quality living among their peers.
Indentured servants provide cheap labor, making it so that the price of locally produced goods is relatively low.
Architecture
The city buildings are mostly made of white marble with golden veins. Sun and summer motifs are common, due to the summer Eladrin dynasty that governs them.
Tall spire-like structures fill the skyline, with a literal undercity built into the mountain, where the lower born live out of sight of the main high elven population.
Geography
The city was built in a highly defensible position, in the slope of a small mountain in the middle of the forest.
To access it, the elven mages bring a set of gigantic stones up from the river below, to form a bridge.
