The Worldheart
Far below the surface of Caerul lies The Worldheart, the true center of the dwarven empire. The city Is massive and carved vertically. It Is lit by glowing mushrooms, torches, and by the glow of a thousand forges. It is hot down here, with coal dust and smog making it difficult for outsiders to even breath. Indeed the city is brutal and Inhumane to all that reside there.
Demographics
All residents of the world heart are dwarves. Many are slaves and many Craftsmen, though any dwarf may be called upon to join the ranks of the legions.
Government
The Worldheart is governed by the Emperor and his council; no other may govern over the Worldheart.
Defences
The World-heart is iron-clad. The defenses of it are impenetrable, with every inch acting as a fortress in and of itself. Lava pits, walls, palisades, and towers are common place with 12 legions functioning within it's walls.
Industry & Trade
The Old stone city's industry literally never stops. 24 hours a day there are miners, smiths, and merchants working tirelessly. The most important of these are the miners who not only dig for ore, but are constantly expanding the reaches of the empire.
Infrastructure
The city is built vertically, with the lower levels housing more important dynasties and buildings.
Assets
The Worldheart has in it's stores enough iron to raise a hundred legions, enough food to last a hundred years, and enough money to purchase the Freylian forests from the wood elves, or so it would have you believe.
Guilds and Factions
Being as large as it is, there are hundreds of guilds and organizations vying for power over the stone caverns and streets. Officially, the Flamebeard clan is the most powerful here, followed by the Rockjaw Clan, and the Rubyeyes.
History
No one I certain just how long the Worldheart has existed. It is known it predates even the Torments of Xerune, however, with some evidence that it may date back as far as the war of the gods.
Architecture
The architecture of the Worldheart is simple and cavernous, with exceptionally ornate gem and gold inlays into specifically important gates.
Geography
Being carved into the very deepest parts of the world the Worldheart has a strange geography in and of itself. It is , of course, cavernous and Rocky, but has several unique features such as the underground lake" The Quench" or areas formed entirely of vibrant glowing crystals.
Natural Resources
The Worldheart's supply of ore is unmatched; iron flows like the water of a great river. It is also rich in coal, gems, and has fertile enough soil to produce large crops of durkshrooms, a fungus that makes up the majority of the dwarven diet.
