The Asteroid Belt

The Asteroid Belt is a ring of mineral rich rocks orbiting the middle of the Sol System between Mars nd the gas giant Jupiter. While sparse in life the belt is inhabited by a series of space stations inhabited by miners who mine these rocks. Beyond these miners the belt also stands as the defacto border between The Inner Rim (EUS Space) and the Outer Rim where law is lost. As such the EUS mans these stations with EUS military personnel and patrols the belt with the majority of their fleet. Despite the breadth of EUS power in the belt, these stations maintain their reputation as being junctions for smuggling, crime and general decent against the EUS.
Though technically under EUS geographical jurisdiction many of these stations in fact fall under SDA power, some even pay deference to warlords and pirate kings.
Despite EUS propaganda, teh belt continues to be a grey area between the 'civilized' inner rim and the 'unruly' outer rim
