Invasion of Francia
The Invasion of Francia was a partially successful invasion of Francia in 488 led by Prince Madoc ap Uther, Admiral Gwenwynwyn, and King Syagrius of Soissons.
The Frankish King Claudas of Francia captured Soissons, the last Roman kingdom in Gaul, renaming the region of Gaul to Francia.
The exiled king of Soissons, King Syagrius, fled to Britain and requested help from various kings and lords. Eventually King Uther Pendragon of Logres offered support, to the annoyance of his son Prince Madoc, who believed that Logres had its own problems to face.
Prince Madoc and his army met with the royal Admiral Gwenwynwyn and sailed to Francia. After reclaiming the city of Bayeux from the forces of King Claudas, Prince Madoc declared their campaign a victory and returned to Britain. The city was promptly recaptured and King Syagrius was exiled once more, declaring vengeance on the prince.
