Steel City

Steel City is a gigantic metropolis, serving as a capital city of the Ferrous Hegemony. Being located on the shore of the Rainbow River, which flows through the Iron Desert, it is the largest and most advanced settlement known to inhabitants of Australia. With it's gigantic size and low population, entire districts are uninhabited and operated by robots, although those, who wish not to be found, have perfect safe haven here.

Demographics

More than 98% of the Steel City population is made of cybernoids, with the rest being humans. These humans are mostly diplomats from other nations, or merchants, who offer exotic goods.

Government

Steel City is ruled directly by the Council of Investors, charged with creation of laws. It is aided by Steel City Police Deparment (SCPD), which itself is branching into the Watchmens, who are responsible for catching of criminals, while the Adjucitators judge them. Taxes and economy are mostly run by Megacorporation, which form the counterweight to the Council of Investors.

Defences

The entire city is covered is energy shield, that can deflect numerous dust storms and slow-travelling projectils. In addition to this shield, the entire city is surrounded by steel wall, able to withstand from 90mm gun. While being mostly passive defense, the wall is equipped with a number of high-caliber machine gun turrets. If any attacked succeeded in piercing this system, he would find himself facing army of highly trained and experienced soldiers in their very home.

Industry & Trade

Heavy industry and cybernetics are what keeps the economy of the Steel City going. Artificial limbs, organs, vehicles, weapons, armour. Other industries include:, electronics, software, consumer goods, jewelry and clothing are but a small fragment of complex system, that provides entire nation with everything needed. With food being it's greatest weakness and supply routes from Camp Alpha being long and dangerous, food of mostly suspicious quality is being importad from both City of Rubidos and the Klavie Yuion in exchange for metal for Yunion and advanced weaponry for Rubidos.

Infrastructure

Capital city of the Ferrous Hegemony has the most advanced infrastructure in Australia, being covered by a complex web of roads, highways, railroads, airports, harbour and other vital components of any civilization.

Assets

Steel City is asset of itself, as it has highest concentration of advanced technology on the entire continent. Factories, storages and workshops can be encountered at every corner, providing both consumer, luxury and military goods. From humble snack bar, to majestic battleships, everything can be made and stored in this city.

Guilds and Factions

Nine Megacorporations are competing to gain supremacy on the market. These above the crime syndicates, but under the government, creating healthy balance of influence, which is preventing the city to fall into despotic oppression or absolute corruption.

History

The most ancient records speak of a vast industrial complex dedicated to creation of nuclear weaponry. However, unknown disaster struck and the complex was abandoned, with most of it's stored bombs alongside it's buildings and vehicles rusting, and becoming fine dust over multiple centuries. This is mostly attributed to leaking radiation, which rendered entire area uninhabitable, until year 6935, in which a secret research laboratory was estabilished, dedicated to study of radiation. This research was likely what saved laboratory's inhabitants, as they developed specialized cybernetic organ, which could filter not only mentioned radiation, but also deadly prion, that eradicated most of the human population. Number of survivors was low, however, which caused them to allow thousands of other survivors to join their community. Keeping the laboratory as it's core, these individuals, now calling themselves cybernoids, started rebuildig city, which surrounded it, declaring it giving it name Steel City in year 7008 and later declaring it as capitol of their newly estabilished state, in year 7103.

Architecture

Buildings in the Steel City are build in modern, efficient and pleasent for eye style. Materials mainly used are: concrete, glass and steel, which gives the city it's name. Most building are build as skyscrapers, to utilize as much space, as possible, with large underground complexes being comonnly used as housing for the poor, factories and laboratories.

Geography

City's location is in the middle of the Iron Desert, which is covering central and northern parts of Australia.

Natural Resources

Steel City has been stripped of all it's natural resources, except one. Oxidized dust surrounding it. This dust is collected and then transformed into usable iron.
