Fingerprick the Golden Rides East

The fortresses which later became the cantons of Rhaul are established in the wake of a bloody swath of battles.

After a bloody offensive by the Immortals, likely spurred on by the loss of the Hassenburgs, Fingerprick spent a short time recovering from a fall from his horse, and then, "moved by the great passion of his puissant heart, so recently unpunctured by the rib fragments of doubt", he marshaled all the armies which would come to his call, and led them East toward the Fuquit Mountains, along the way loosing soldiers and followers in swaths but carving out a safe path for travel and trade. The deserters soon consolidated into evenly-spaced warlike communities, and became what we now know as the Cantons. The Cantons of Rhaul are slowly growing toward each other. It is a measure of Fingerprick's hidden genius that so few of the initial fastness-towns he established were extinguished by the raw magic natureland in which they are encircled. The ease with which the Last March of Fingerprick drove into the uncharted woodlands out East suggests that the forces of the Immortals are focused on Bloodmarsh. If the fight is won here, it may be done for the whole continent.
