Oldest Dragon Fossils Deposited

Trace fossils found in silicious mudstone of volcanic ash and river mud indicate that dragons were present no later than this time. It is unlikely that any alive at this time have survived to the present. Probably. The Immortals are. But they weren't always. Here. They weren't always around. Dragons are quite as immortal as the other Special People of the Gods, but their remains have only been found dating to a very short time ago.   It is speculated that the invention and advent of dragonkind was a kind of new fad which caught on among the Gods once it became clear to them that the monkey folk wouldn't stop sticking their previous creations with spears for anything. It is possible that the idea for dragons came from the extinct mortal Protodragons, the Thunder Lizards, which predate them by around 260 million years. Though they have been out of the picture for at least 63 million years, the big faces with pointy teeth seem to point to a causal link.
