Sweinfurt City

Overview

Once ruled by the heavy set Countess Ericha-Yohanna Swainn sometimes jokingly referred to as von Swein (swine) until she was overthrown by sherrif-turned-count Berwyn-Alfonse Metzger. It is a major trade location and passing through the city is the primary way of crossing the massive Lyska river that separates most of the duchy from it's neighbors. In times of peace it enjoys safety and prosperity, more so than it's northern allies.   The Lyska itself is about 1km (+-3200 feet) wide where Sweinfurt sits, with two islands making up the heart of the city: the largest is known as the Trade Isle and the other as Castle Isle. The distance from Northbank to the Trade Isle is about 500ft, the distance from the Isle to the southbank Southbank is about 1500 feet, meaning that the isle's widest point is about 1200 feet.   Patron God: Kruzec, God of Trade   During the Thronewar the city became the new frontline and has had to use all it's old fortifications to use. Additionally when Skalen keep fell it's southern bridge was destroyed by Trebuchet shots to halt the Southern army.

Basic Info

The city is split in 3 large portions, divided by the Lisca River. The Northbank, the Crossing and the Southbank.   City Leader: Count-Ascendant Berwyn-Alfonse Metzger   City Watch Captain: After the coup, Watch Captain Myriam Durric, was killed and replaced with Fredericka Esser

Carrying weapons and Armor

It is permitted to carry weapons and wear armour within any settlement in Iyorith, even more so during the war effort itself. While other cities in the southern Dukedoms would have rules for peace-bonding weapons or banning them altogether for non-knights and figures not aiding the nobility, it is not the case here as all should be prepared to defend their homes.

Districts outside the City

Northbank

Aka, the Troughs, un-walled fields and fisheries. Has the Northbridge which is a 500 foot long bridge, here the river is not deep enough for heavy cargo boats, but deep enough for fishing.

Points of Interest

Iron Hold Warehouse: Stopping point for dwarven merchants and their heavy loaded beasts of burden. They load off their cargo to then send it into the city.   Ironheart Keep: 3 story Barracks with a public temple to Kovan. Opened up it's doors to the army, houses a considerable number, uses magic to feed as many as they can.   Lantern Light Graveyard Houses a walled off graveyard near the river as well as private crypts with a central temple to Morska. Keeper Malvina Myrtha (middle aged human) runs the temple.   The Army Encampment: The Duke's army staid in tents until it started freezing. Now most of them have taken shelter in farmhouses and other locations within the city like inns, the Castle or one of the Keeps.

Southbank

Holds more fields, un-walled and is the furthest off from the city.

Points of Interest

Great Bridge. A 300 foot wide, 1500 foot long bridge connects the bank to the Trade Quarter. Trebuchet shots have destroyed the bridge nearly fully.   Blooming Heart Abbey An abbey dedicated to Nara, that doubles as an orphenage.

Crossing Isle Districts

What is known as Crossing Isle is in fact 1 large isle and a tiny eastern isle. It is divided in 4 quarters: The Dock Quarter, The Trade Quarter, the Gilded Quarter and Castle Isle. Space is at a premium here so people tend to build upwards more than they build wide.

Trade Quarter

The Trade Quarter is the common district and the largest on the island. It holds basic business and open markets, everything a bustling city needs. From alehouses to cobblers, farriers, bakers, butchers,...etc.

Points of Interest

The Watch is made up of militia members. They leave the heavy lifting to the Fulcrum.   The Harlequin's Spider Inn, largest inn within the city, ran by Balru "The Harlequin" Rumna (Male halfling) and his fat pet spider Timothy. It has 4 stories, 2 counters and a large stage. its tavern area can house many dozens.   Lazy Piglet Bathhouse, the cities common bathhouse ran by Miranda and Darius Faulkner   The Macmaran Bank, ran by Sorcha and Eaghan Macmaran the bank has basic magical protections, guards and rumored to house a golem defending the vaults.   The Lucky Respit: an alchemical shop known to give out loans to the desperate.   The Baroque Bookshelf: A supplier of all things paper, velum, ink and books the storefront is ran by Alabyran Vyshaan (Male Elf)   The Southbridge:   Temple of Kruzec Ran by Pontiff Vondrathil after Yvonna Beumer was slain in the revolt.   Shrine of the Many A temple that houses Shrines to each God that lacks their own temple.

The Gilded Quarter

Upper class business and merchants reside as well as specialty stores can be within this district. Due to the proximity of Ard Lyskaldun many dwarven merchants and traders are found here as well. The Gilded Quarter also connects to Castle Isle via a drawbridge.

Points of Interest

Gildheart Keep: Home to the Chapter of the Gilded Fulcrum   Moran's Elixorium, Alchemist and herbalism shop run by Moran and Aestryd of Clan Maccilka, dwarves   Firehilt Bane, smithy run by Elasad Macannag, Dwarven woman   The Blue Choker, jewelry store run by Reynard Almonds, male gnome   The Argent Veil: upper class bathhouse ran by Eirini Aldana, High-elven woman   The Gilded Goblet: High-Class tavern, the tap is ran by Adhemar Lebrun.   The Velvet Leaves Bookstore Ran by a young genderfluid halfling man known as Gurd, has a smut section.

The Dock Quarter

Closest to the deeper parts of the river, located on the south of the city this lower lying area is filled with shipwrights, small taverns, fishers and is considered the poorest district of the Isle.

Points of Interest

Encampment: The Docks are patrolled by the Duke's army and city watch to ensure no assault is made on the city via the river.   Westside This side of the docks sends goods further down the river towards Caowen, yet shipments are either delayed or blocked completely.   Brauwsagger Alehouse rune by Rolf (Half-Orc male) and Oda Brauwsagger (Half-Orc woman)   Eastside This side sees the concessional wealthy merchant sailing from and towards Ard Lyskaldun instead of taking beasts of burden from the Ironhold Warehouse   Underside The Greatbridge goes over a portion of the docks as it connects to the Trade Quarter. As such this incredibly small portion of the docks sees little sunlight. It is the poorest part of the Docks.   Sailor's Choice: a tavern catering to the rough and tumble, the tap is ran by Thorhilde (Dwarf)

Castle Isle

High walls, a drawbridge, an elevated position and a grand castle make Castle Isle the smallest and most defensive location within the city. it houses the nobility and the regent.

Points of Interest

Castle Sweinnfurt Former Demesne of slain Countess Ericha-Yohanna Swainn. late 30's, heavy set woman with a love for food and drink. Always dressed in extravagant clothing and followed around with an equally fat hound. Not the Iyorithan ideal of a regent, but a woman with impeccable business sense. Her Court mage was the Half-Orc commoner Jurgen Brausagger. Both have been slain in the uprising alongside the Castellan Sir Eirwen Arkalz.       Hawke's Estate:
