Kronburg
Overview
Kronburg is the beating heart of the Grand Duchy with tournaments, performances and knights all vying for attention of the masses. It's close proximity to the mountains and dwarven lands ensure prosperous trade and relative safety. Patron Diety: Home to temples to all (approved) dieties, as each had a hand in granting victory over the dragons. The Patron diety matches the faith of the elected Hierarch and as such changes with every coronation.The Royal Court
Grand Duchess Rosely-Elisa Timar I presides over her court and is the final arbiter of laws and justice. This court is made up of Duke Varsili-Edelbert Corhall, the Royal Archmage, the Lord-Commander of the Griffonlords and a religious Hierarch, traditionally one of Alric, Kruzec or Kovan. According to tradition the permanent court members meet at least once per year during the spring festival to discuss the previous year and their road forward.Hierarch
A Hierarch is an elected official among the Pontiffs of the kingdom, taking up residence in the Hall of the Divine. They are the head of the Concordance of Pontiffs and work to ensure "the peace of the Gods" as well as serve as a dignitary to the royal court, providing council and guidance in the matters of divinity and spiritualism. Elected Hierarch's appoints a Pontiff of their own faith to take over their previous duties in the city they called home. As a result, Hierarch's can count as tie-breakers in the matter of voting, giving that faith significant political power now that they have effectively 2 votes in the matters of divinity. Currently there is no Hierarch, as the previous one was denounced by Duchess Timar.Royal Griffongard
Created by the Wyrmbane king himself as the primary way of dealing with the threat of flying dragons. These elite heavily armed and armored cavalry fly tamed griphons and are loyal only to their lord-commander. The Royal Griffonlords however are chosen from among their number and are loyal only to the crown and are given great wealth and prestige to ensure their continued loyalty.Archmage
The Archmage is tasked with providing council to the regent in the matters of arcane arts. They also gain resources and funding for protection and research for the aid of the dukedom and the kingdom as a whole. This highly competitive field also pits the three other court mages and their apprentices against each other just like any jousting tournament pits knights against each other during annual arcane tournaments.
