Sura Rahn

The human settlement of Sura Rahn was once home to the bleeding edge of technology. The city was a thriving port famous step irrigation systems and a diverse cultivation of crops and animals. That was before The Rupture . Existing on the coast at the edge of the bay outlet, when the leyline ruptured and spewed Aether, Sura Rahn was in the blast zone. Nearly every living creature in the city was aetherized. They became one with that magical torrent leaving a contaminated near ghost town of towering buildings behind. The only people to surprise did so on accident. They had been working on a shielding technology that had malfunctioned and trapped them in stasis to be rescued nearly three months later when the humane efforts of their allies had discovered they were still alive upon investigation of the disaster.
Over a hundred years later and the wilds have overtake much of what used to be Sura Rahn and reduced the outer edges of the city to rubble. The inner city has sprouted slowly back to life over the course of the years and has more recently been put back into the greater area trade routes. On the edge of the bleed from the aether sea, Sura Rahn is well aware of the horrors and majesty that can befall them and as such are meticulous in their conventions concerning magic. They have become well known for their protective magics, of which they had focused on after The Rupture. Sura Rahn is home to a large institute of Abjuration called The Shield.

Architecture

The stone buildings of Sura Rahn are the same buildings that have been there since before The Rupture. While these buildings have been restored when the city needed to re-expand, they are mostly the same as they have always been. They are tall and made of elaborate stonework; carved designs on each corner of every building. The roads are a pride of Sura Rahn. Their condition is maintained impeccability and travel within the city is made much easier.
