Maurice Villeneuve
Mr Maurice Villeneuve
British painter.
In 1985 he received a meagre stipend from the Courtauld Institute and moved to Rome to get his great break. Three years later, when the money ran out, he regretfully began planning his return. However, one summer day he met Catherine Moreau. After two dates, Maurice was convinced Catherine was more important than his career. He started working as a graphic designer. Maurice and Catherine got married on New Year's Day. Year later Catherine gave birth to their daughter Belle.
After Catherine died of cancer in 1993, he and Belle lived throughout Western Europe. Maurice freelanced as a graphic designer affiliated to various projects in major cities.
When Belle was ten, they returned to England and settled in suburban Ashford in Surrey and Maurice was hired as an art teacher in a local community centre. For the next decade, they lived pleasant, if a little boring, life.
