Tùr a 'Mhuir
Tùr a 'Mhuir is a towering sea stack at the most Dawnward point of the Crownward coastline of Cuan and is the last point of land visible from the end of a promontory. Tùr a 'Mhuir is important to sailors and fishermen as a navigational landmark as it's red sandstone structure marks a turning point in the sea routes and also a dangerous shoal of jagged rocks that is all that remains of the rest of the natural arch which used to stand here.
It is also an important place of study to those following a scientific pursuit; spectacular and unique geology; fossils; endangered mosses and lichens; and an important bird colony. Scientific groups can often be found clambering over the structure take samples and hope for a
History
Whilst Tùr a 'Mhuir used to be part of a great sea arch; it collapsed several generations ago and its name has passed out of common knowledge.
More recently, the stacks natural hight has seen it used as a lighthouse with towering bonfires being lit at night to warn passing vessels of the rocky danger; the difficulty of bringing fuel and raising it to the top has seen this practice stop several decades ago.
Folklore
There are many local tales, myths and superstitions surrounding the Tùr a 'Mhuir, but many have one common thread connecting them, that several centuries ago it is said that the sea arch that existed before did not collapse naturally, but that a mighty Kraken wishing to defend its subaquatic lair, tore it down to create the dangerous rocky reefs surrounding the stack. Those same stories speculate that the Kraken or its descendant still resides in the deep deep waters surrounding the Tùr a 'Mhuir.
