It was humanity's plea that persuade the Illuminated Archon to abandon the heavenly realm to save us. The Arlvar have their magic. Then Fenvar are graceful beyond measure. The Goliaths' might is unchallenged. Dwarven fortitude is unassailable. These are all wondrous gifts indeed, but it was Humanity that brought His grace to us.

Origins

If the people of the knew how humanity came to be, the knowledge did not survive the perils of that era. The Light, in his infinite wisdom, surely knows, but He has declined provided enlightenment on this topic. For most of the humanity of today, the answers would hold no weight. While Alverion, all glory to Him, may not have given us our form, Bastion is His creation and today we are all children of His world.

Culture

What little we know from the tells us that before the Crusade of Light humanity was divided. We know little today about how many variations of culture made up . There are three primary human cultures today.

Tasyodic

Based on the legend of Halvard Tastad, it seems clear that the culture of Tasyod today descends from a relatively small area. Halvard had carved a knew path for his people in the decades before the end of that era. He had broken free of a society based on noble lords and a peasantry that served them. He gave rise to a society based on the individual and their right to achieve for themselves, rather than to serve for the betterment of others based on birth.   In the past thousand years, this culture of individualism has only strengthened. While Tasyod still remains untied in their defiance of, and defense against, their neighboring realms, they have only grown apart internally. Part if this can be attributed to the geography of Tasyod. The land there carries the foothills of Kem Boldahr much farther south and west than their neighboring realm of Nove Rezaan. Most of the townships are nestled into valleys, or "Hollows," between the hills which means that both distance and terrain cause relative isolation for many communities. This isolation, combined with the strong independent spirit instilled by Halvard, often causes strained relations among Tasyod's people.

Vikin

While we know little of Hilda Svendottir's life in the it is certain she was from roughly the same region as Halvard Tastad, and likely lived in a culture similar to the one Halvard broke free from. Hilda's achievements in the Crusade of Light earned her the opportunity to break free of that culture as well, but she took a much different path than Halvard.   Intead of focusing on the individual not owing their service to someone else's birthright, she focused on the individual's service to the everyone. She spent her entire reign as the first queen of Vikinmark creating a massive bureaucracy devoted to managing every aspect of labor in the kingdom. Since her time, that system has only grown. Today, discussing "vikin culture" actually means discussing a wide vareity of mandates, manuals, and protocols that dictate nearly every aspect of life in the kingdom. To be Vikin is to labor at the tasks assigned, in the place assigned, using the methods assigned, all in service of the whole.

Vaeilian

The first thing to note about the human culture of Nove Rezaan is that its name is a mystery. In the Divine One's decree that created Nove Rezaan, he granted Aeolith Zinwain the kingdom, remade him and his closest allies into the Arlvar, and assigned the "Vaeilian remnants to fill the kingdom's population." This implies there were more Vaeilians, though what happened to them is never addressed in the or any documents from Bastion's early history. Regardles, the name has remained.   What has not remained, however, is most of the actual Vaeilian cutlure, whatever it was. The humans of Nove Rezaaan, or serfs, as the nobility call them, have spent the last thousand years serving their Arlvar masters, and in that time most of what it meant to be Vaeilian has vanished. It is extremely difficult to maintain traditions and customs when you live to serve at the whim of masters who share none of those traditions and customs.   Today, Vaeilian culture is more about a strong enduring community than ceremonies, festivals, foods, or any other touchtones of culture. When other cultures speak of family, they tend to mean somewhat close blood relations. For Vaeilians family exentds to their entire local communities. Age
