Van Richten's Letter

If this letter has found you, my suspicions were right, I'm sorry...
If I'm not mistaken you have been gathered by a rather mysterious individual. Whilst he offers a large prize the toll is even greater, one which may make the prize seem so small. I have seen many before you go through similar trials, and seen many fail. This leads me to why I sent this letter. You will fail. Something is failing, I can't fathom or begin to explain what I mean but the situation is different this time. Almost as if the rules of the game has changed.
That's why I'm putting and end to this once and for all. I lost my family to this, I lost companions to this, All I've ever known is this repeating loss. I fear something even greater is coming I need help putting a stop to it. Despite everything I've said, please accept his offer. Whilst I can't promise reward, I can promise your name will be engraved in legend. Saviours of the mists, the ones who ended the eternal night of torment.
For safety I am unable to disclose my whereabouts, as I'm sure this letter has already been read by my enemies. I'm left with no choices though. I hope we meet on our travels. But until we meet you should head to the abbey, its your first safe haven.... maybe your only.

Oh come now we're practically old friends at this point. No matter your presence shall entertain me along with your new friends.
