The cult of DiesLux

This cult practices the worship of a god called The Entity  
The Entity goes by many names though - God of the mists, The Dark Power, Guardian of Evil, Lord of Shadows and much more local names. Followers believe the entity to be a benevolent being which traps threats to extreme for the land of Faerun in a separate plane. These trapped creatures are then believed to suffer despair at the hand of tailored torments. The Entity never interacts with Faerun leading to a reputation of just fairy tales or ghost stories.
To appease the Entity the followers search for willing participants to engage these threats and provide some momentary distraction. This is to try and stop these threats from ever getting to aware of their situation. A lot of adventurers in search of power, fame and challenge take on this task. More often than not they do not return, and the ones that do often are scarred and unable to forget their experience
