Obatna'Ra

A tree of unknown origins, Obatna'Ra is one of the natural spirits worshipped in Badoen. It is particularly important for the orc community living in the surrounding area. The name comes from Cutiy'r and means "She Who Sees All".

Basic Information

Anatomy

Obatna'Ra is an ancient tree, with roots running both on the surface ot the ground and in the deep. The ones above ground are tinted red, which makes them appear like veins are running around the tree. The trunk is of a pale colour, twisting and turning around itself, a strong base spreading into the branches. The leaves are a deep grey-green, and the flowers resemble small, red and purple bowls with tiny stams springing from them. The fruits become ripe by the middle of autumn, they resemble cherries covered in prickly, chestnut-like exteriours. The nectar attracts fireflies, which makes the tree glow with their swarms at nights.

Genetics and Reproduction

Though there is no account of a similar plant nearby, Obatna'Ra seems to do just fine with the pollens of other species carried to her through an extensive amount of bugs she attracts. This, however, causes her appearence to change a little every year.

Ecology and Habitats

The tree grows in the depth of the swampy lands the Orcs and Half-Orcs reside in. It is not bothered by the tremendous amount of water, the humid air or the sun. Even less by the insects residing in the bog, as they allow her to bloom each year.
Conservation Status
There is only a couple of these trees left. Truthfully, the Orcs only know of one, which they call Obatna'Ra. It has been there for hundreds of years, and they find it unimaginable that something should happen to it. Nevertheless, the tree is set in the middle of their settlement, children are thought to respect it, any damage done to it is severely punished, and it is guarded by assigned Protectors.
