Hroth'Moar

Appearing to be more of a camp in the bog than an actual city - let alone one of significance -, Hroth'Moar may fool the uninitiated eye. The small, circular houses are either built on wooden walkways or digged into the ground where the soil is not covered by patches of water, and the roofs were made of branches and moss, almost disappearing when looked at from the distance. The windows of these homes had never known glass, instead, they are covered with colourful draperies to keep rain, cold, heat, or insects out of the interiours. The whole settlement is loud with talking, arguing, laughter and occasional barter, the harsh sounds of Orcish language fill the air. Everyone knows the other, the community is close-knit and any stranger would be noticed immediately. The very heart of the place is a plant, a tree the locals call Obatna'ra: pale branches, prickly fruits, and red roots covering the ground as if they were tiny springs of blood. It is a place of worship and the spot for many important rituals and initiation rites.

Government

The Old Ones and the Chief govern the place. The Old Ones are responsible for giving advice, performing religious rituals and tending to the needs of the community. They often have someone skilled at Divination amongst their circles. The Chief is responsible for judgement and he is a general in time of war.

Industry & Trade

They mostly prepare what they need for themselves. Trade happens between the members of the community, based on exchange rather than money. They would not accept money from a traveler, instead, they prefer more practical objects and trinkets.

Tourism

The few people who decide to visit Hroth'Moar do not do so for the sake of enjoyment and vacation. A couple of sociologysts and anthropologysts arrive every year to take a look at the local community, make a couple of rather narrow-minded claims in their books about their experiences with this "barbaric culture", and never come back again. Wizards have a somewhat different reason of arriving here: most of them try to acquire some of the fruits of Obatna'ra, trying to exchange all sorts of valuables with the locals who are very much aware of the worth of the rare ingredient. However, the Orcish community is not fond of these intruders, as they are worried by the idea that another culture might try to conquer their habitat to have immediate access to the fruits. A couple of druids and botanists also deem the settlement worthy to see, attracted by the famous tree they have never seen similar to. Countless books and articles in encyclopedies speak of the unique plant, but the interest seems to be endless. Some of these druids, although certainly astonished by the sight, do not stop at looking at the tree, but take care that it is in good condition. They often work with the local community to preserve the one-of-its-kind being.
