Ixtan

Overlooking a high pass in the eastern Alrizon Mountains, Ixtan continues its centuries-old task of watching for threats to Badiseta. It is a strict, militaristic village wherein every resident over the age of 16 and is able is recruited into the militia. They do daily exercises within the walls of Ixtan, while older, more experienced members participate in multi-week excursions into the mountains or to communities downhill.
They exist solely on the trade provided them by Badisetan villages. They are provided all supplies on the promise of protection, even if the villages know that they are not in any danger, nor will be in the future. Even with the recent rumors of abhuman scouts in the mountains, many discount the fear-mongering that Ixtan seems to be spreading to confirm its existence.

Government

Ixtan is unique in Badiseta, as it is the only military government in the region. Despite it's isolation, it collects taxes in the form of labor and foodstuffs from eastern Badisetan communities.

Assets

Ixtan itself does not have any assets aside from its manpower. It provides security to communities to the south, as well as circulating their resources among other communities.

History

Prior to the alliances between Badiseta and the nations over the Alrizon Mountains, several forts and watch houses were established in strategic points. Once peaceful trade was in effect, many of these communities were withdrawn back into Badiseta. Ixtan, however, decided that it would continue its watch over the mountain pass.
Unfortunately, Ixtan was not self-sustaining. For the past two hundred years, it has existed only through the sympathies of its neighboring communities. Offering security and patrols to villages at the foot of the mountains, Ixtan asks for payments in the form of food, material and occasional labor.
Despite being far from the abhuman communities in Alrizon, Ixtan has been alerting people to sightings of them at the far side of the pass.
