Guardsmen

The Guardsmen are the national army/ police who keep the law and order in Azaria. They are stationed in garrisons, of which there is one in every city, and each regiment has a coloured uniform reflecting their city of origin. The garrisons also hold a noble patron, who originally would provide the funds to train soldiers and maintain the garrisons, until this was changed to be provided for by local taxes.
The training programme takes 4-5 years, and men and women can enlist for training from age 16 upwards. Adam, Eliza's best friend, enlisted for training at age 17 at his local regiment in Bane.
Cadets wear a standard green basic uniform, and gain their colours after graduation.
The Guardsmen also form juries as part of the law system- a judge, appointed independently, will oversee a trial and judgement is decided by a Guardsmen Jury consisting of 12 current Guardsmen who were not involved in the case. The Jury also oversees and approves of the vote of the City Counsillor, the person in charge of each city. If a minor is involved in a crime (anyone under the age of 16), their trials are judged by the Counsillor. The only exception to this is Dhjerba, which has negotiated to have a Merchant Council consiting of eight members rather than a single Cousillor.

BANE- Major Tawson Vance, green and gold uniforms
TERENT- Sergeant Adrian Vale, sky-blue and white uniforms
LANARAN- General Oscar Grants, purple and silver uniforms
DHJERBA- Warrant Officer Lina Sarcan, red and grey uniforms
VIENS- Field-Marshall Eveline Harris, rust and navy blue uniforms- she is the highest ranking Guardsmen and would lead every garrison if there was a international conflict
ORNIXA- Captain Durian Warren, maroon and blue uniforms
DRAGONVALE- Lieutenant-General Robert Kitzen, sea-green and carnelian uniforms
ESTOVAN- Brigadier Ashley Vauxbolt, copper and violet uniforms
WOLFDALE- First-Lieutenant Reka Dresker, black and cream uniforms
DARKDALE- Lieutenant-Colonel Isis Mace, forest-green and brown uniforms
BEGARA- Colonel Carter Barrington, indigo and orange uniforms
