Zena
The rapids of change
Demographics
Zegarians are very mixed, they range from many ethnicities and species. Historically it has been a versatile trading city with access to the whole of the mainland due to The Misty River. However, in recent years, the city has taken on a name for being the capital of the Seekers of Many Fathers, as such the primary professions of Zegarians tend towards traders, soldiers, mercenaries and adventurers.
Defences
Surrounded by a large wall, The Misty River is the main entry point into the city. Due to the relatively abstract location, Castle Laodice and barracks line the river, ensuring that any coastal attacks are well defended.
Industry & Trade
Historically The Misty River was a prime aspect for trade itself. Mithridates used to charge extortionate fees to cross the river being one of the safest crossings from north to south, and vice a versa. Since then, crossing the river is free. However, with the Golden Plaza being directly in the path of the crossing, it is a common in-joke that one should donate to their favourite trader to honour history.
Infrastructure
Old Fort Zena now lies in ruins after Xiphares fate, with only a single tower remaining. However, Lamberside Fort still stands tall to the east of the isle. As for which Castle Laodice and Cleopatra's Palace still stands, opposing each other on each bank. Since then, the city has working sewers, the Golden Plaza which opens daily, and a large barracks for the troops of the Seekers of Many Fathers.
Guilds and Factions
Zena is mostly supported by Seekers of Many Fathers. However, many smaller organisations have input into the working relationships of the city.
Tourism
Zena would receive a fair portion of tourists due to its quite oft-debated history. The history of Mithridates, Xiphares and the Red Current. Many visitors come to see the remaining structures from Zena's history. It is well known across Panservia of the symbol of the two ladies. One holding a sword, and the other a pair of scales.
Architecture
Traditional Zegarian infrastructure placates itself on a very colourful design of chhatris, multi-foil arches and onion-shaped dome roofs. It is made using marble, source from the Voiceless Expanse, and concrete. However, due to the diverse nature of modern-day Zena, the infrastructure has long diversified and expanded. As such it is not strange to see wooden, western brickwork and all various designs.
Geography
The Misty River flows from a bit beyond Zena to The Central Ring. One side of Zena backs into the Forest of Strides, the other leads into the wastes of the Voiceless Expanse.
Natural Resources
Of all natural resources, Zena is actually relatively limited. It is one of few decent farming locations, with its many farms. However, location is key to success in a city. Fortunately, Zena is almost perfectly located. To the west is a huge sprawling Forest of Strides, with seemingly no end to supply for wood. To the north are prolific mines, well know to supply some of the better metals of eastern Panservia. Finally, to the east, deeper within the Voiceless Expanse is a large selection of marble and sandstone. A luxurious material perfect for trading, albeit risky due to the dangerous nature of the expanse.
