The ever present watchers and guardians of the Radiant City of Sol. The guard has the unenviable task of maintain order throughout the sprawling radiant city. Always in pairs of two or more, the guard tends to focus their efforts on guarding busy markets, government offices, important businesses, and other important areas of the city. Patrols are busiest along the largest streets, and along the city's walls. Their equipment includes wearing chain-mail or plate-mail armor and wielding halberds and/or long swords. The guard are also equipped with long-bows and cross-bows and are trained in the use of fire arrows. The guard are also equipped with various siege engines with which to defend the city from attack, or from dangerous monsters. Among their ranks are mages trained to detect and subdue a variety of spectral threats and other kinds of magical dangers. A high ranking mage of the Sol Guard is charged as the Shield Custodian of Sol, a position responsible for maintaining the city's Schutz Field.
Service in this organization is not as prestigious as it is for the army but their presence is generally respected among the Helian population (with some very notable exceptions in the case of The Gangs of Sol).
