Overview

A mount is the best way to travel the Oniruuru Desert in many respects, but they're not the fastest mode of transport.
Enter the land yacht, a wooden vessel with skis designed to resist the coarse sands and sharp rocks that of the Oniruuru Desert. The most resistant skis are made from Sable Fiber. Wheels are also an option, but not as common as skis since they require more materials to make as well as requiring modifications to the yacht's hull to fit axles. The main feature of this vessel is a sail that catches the almost constant winds of the region to propel the craft. In the absence of natural wind, air magics can be used as a source of energy for the yacht's sail.
These yachts can sometimes be sighted crossing the landscape with some traveling at double the speed of a mount. These faster yachts are generally designed to achieve racing speeds at the cost of long term use. Caravans of the yachts have been employed by nomadic tribes or by teams getting ready for a race.
The yachts are not restricted to purely practical applications. Specially constructed versions of the yachts are meant for pure speed and mobility, and have thus been entered into many races between daring contestants such as the Tour of the Sands.
