Annual Cicada
The buzzing never stops during summer. Gotta wait until autumn for some peace and quiet.
Overview
The Annual Cicada is a large noisome bug that emerges from the swampy floor of the Škodljive Swampland to sing constantly. Many blame the wild magics of the The Great Collapse for the creation of these creatures. During their most active days, these cicadas can be heard across Miren Bay. Luckily, it seems that the Annual Cicada stays within the confines of the swampland. Maybe they cannot survive outside of a swampy environment? This kind of cicada is not like is normal counterpart. The normal cicada only shows up every thirteen or seventeen years.Ecological Benefit
Those who can stand the noise as well as other dangers of the Skodljive Swampland have a surprising report: the cicadas might actually be important to the health of the swampland. They help to prune the trees of deadwood thereby keeping the trees healthy. In other words, the swampland could have been even more impassable to the brave traveler had it not been for the yearly presence of this cicada. What is unfortunate however, is that because this cicada likes to consume deadwood it means that there's very few dry wood to be found in the swamp. Don't expect to make a campfire easily in the Skodljive Swampland.

I have a perennial cicada as part of my insect collection. - Archivist Rena That was a risk you took. - Archivist Edward It was already dead when I found it, like everything else in the collection. - Archivist RenaRemove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
