Concerning Languages

The many of the tales of Midstar were either translated or written in Farek Tugg, the Common Tongue. Many of the names of places, clans, and other artifacts (save for most names in Faenir, Dwarfish, and other languages) have been translated into English in order to be read and understood more clearly (such as Behvræffre being translated to Silverhaven, or Aercarrebb Kinn being translated to the Magecloak Clan, etc).   Ancient Tongue is the oldest of language of the cosmology, spoken by the Immortals, angels, dragons and the giants of the Elemental Realms. There are two dialects that came from this language: Dahniirag (spoken by dragons) and Muilag (spoken by elemental giants). This language uses ancient runes for carving and writing.   Opraarkuul is the dark tongue, spoken by demons, fiends and dark lords of the Underrealms. Naarfeigkûr (spoken by Nárfaen) branched off from Nólnûr Faenir when it was corrupted by influences from Opraarkuul. This language uses the same runes as Ancient Tongue.   Faenir is the language of the Faenir, and is a beautiful and elegant language. It has two different dialects: Nólnûr Faenir (spoken by the Tiélfaen and the Faen of the First Era) and Common Faenir (spoken in the years after the First Era). This language uses the Faenir alphabet. Pifhimair (spoken by faeries and pixies) and Survetheir (spoken by gnomes) evolved from Nólnûr Faenir in the Feylands of the Great Wilds. This alphabet utilizes the Faenir alphabet. Sulfair, or Sylvan, is the ancient language of the Sylvans and druids for rites and ceremonies. The language descended from Feyish, and it uses runes that no other language uses.   Tyrvanik is a hard and rough language for the Dwarfish people. Dwarfish has two dialects: Onð Tyrvanik (spoken by the Dwarfs of olden days) and Modern Tyrvanik (spoken by the modern Dwarfs). Onð Tyrvanik is understandable to those who speak Tyrvanik, only differing in spelling, word order and some semantics. Dwarfish uses a rune system for carving and writing, and older inscriptions are written in earlier versions of the rune system (Modern Tyrvanik uses a smaller number of runes, having certain runes share sounds, like “f” and “v”, or “b” and “p”).   Goblin (as it is called by most) is spoken by monsters like goblins, hobgoblins, trolls, ogres, and so on. It is less of its own language and more of a corruption of references from a mix of other languages.   Jeyawāhlik is the common language of the people of Jeyawahle. It utilized a strange and curvy alphabet that reads from right to left, unlike the other languages of the world. Clan languages were spoken by the of men before they had established any kingdoms. Each of the ten clans had their own clan tongue, and are now only used within the clan, due to the Common Tongue being a more popular choice of communication.   Farek Tugg was the language created by men to make communication between different clans, as well as other races, much easier. It helped unite the peoples of Odránidir once again. *NOTE: The Alphabet that the Common Tongue uses is very similar to the of the Anglo-Saxon runic system, Futhorc.*   Orcish is the language of the Orc tribes to the west, and is somewhat similar to Goblin, yet it is not as evil or malevolent sounding. It has a small alphabet, relying more on sounds like vowels and harder consonants.
