Circle of Magic

"Drow architecture is surprisingly gothic in nature, sharing many similarities with Dromish aesthetic. This makes me wonder if there wasn't some closer tie between the two peoples long ago. Even their approach to magic is similar, this is plainly seen in the Circle of Magic. When the Circle of Magic is mapped out on paper, showing the different layers as concentric circles, there is a striking similarity between a Dromish wizard's teleportation circle and the Circle of Magic's layout. Of course, when my mind is permitted to idly speculate, I begin to wonder, did the Drow of the Cropolis did this on purpose? If so, what were they trying to summon? Or worse yet, what DID they summon?" - from the annals of time.

Purpose / Function

Many have speculated that there may be a larger purpose for the hidden hallway loops that make up the 8 levels to the Circle of Magic, but there's nothing uncovered has yet explained the odd architectural. Ostensibly, the area was used for the storage of volatile magical reagents and for the instruction of the arcane. Each circular level, progressively getting smaller and smaller presenting an upside down cone-shape, is progressively more dangerous. The magics having warped and twisted over the hundreds of years since the momento, either from disuse or failed arcane wards or (perhaps) by design.

Alterations

Several recent tremors have unearthed the Circle of Magic. A rend in the ground near the centre of the Cropolis permits access to the first level of the Circle of Magic. Before this upheaval, there was no obvious path into the place, leaving us to speculate that there was a magical means of entrance that has been long forgotten. Thankfully, each layer from two to the final eighth layer can be accessed by the layers directly above or below it.   This location also suffered heavy damage during the Rumble King's Confrontation, destroying much of the circle and dropping it into the Boiling Sea.
